Ascent to the Villarrica Volcano

Description

Volcano 2,847 meters high, is active and its crater of only 200 meters. in diameter, it has a lava lake of 1,250º C with permanent fumaroles. It is covered by an extensive glacier of 40 km² that is located in the northwest end of a remarkable volcanic chain next to the volcanoes, El Mocho, Quetrupillán, Quinquilil and Lanín. It has 59 historical eruptions and the largest of this century were in the years 1908, 1920, 1948, 1949, 1963, 1971, 1984-85 and 2016.
The ascent of the volcano is done all year round, in winter as well as in summer, accompanied by professional guides. Between June and December, it is possible to ski or snowboard. It is a climb, not technical and requires a moderate physical condition, has a vertical drop (1050m / 1650m) and an inclination that varies between 30 and 45 ° approximately.
